Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Woodrock Care has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labor. Woodrock Care has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

Our Business

Woodrock Care is a home care provider operating in Plymouth, Devon. We provide personal care and support services to adults aged 18-65 and over 65 in their own homes. Our services include:

• Live-in care
• Domiciliary care
• Dementia care
• Respite care
• Companion care
• Waking nights and sleep-in care

Our Policies

We operate the following policies that describe our approach to the identification of modern slavery risks and steps to be taken to prevent slavery and human trafficking in our operations:

Recruitment and Employment

• We conduct right to work checks for all employees
• We verify identity documentation
• We ensure all staff are paid at least the National Living Wage
• We provide clear employment contracts
• We prohibit any fees being charged to workers for employment

Safeguarding

• All staff receive safeguarding training
• We have clear whistleblowing procedures
• We encourage reporting of concerns
• We work closely with local safeguarding boards

Due Diligence

As part of our efforts to monitor and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains, we have adopted the following due diligence procedures:

• Conducting risk assessments on our suppliers
• Maintaining a preferred supplier list
• Requiring suppliers to demonstrate compliance with employment laws
• Terminating relationships with suppliers who fail to meet our standards

Risk Assessment and Management

We have assessed our business and supply chains and identified the following potential risk areas:

• Recruitment of migrant workers
• Use of agency staff
• Supply chains for uniforms and equipment

To manage these risks, we:

• Verify right to work for all staff
• Only use reputable recruitment agencies
• Audit our suppliers' employment practices
• Provide training to relevant staff

Training

We provide training to relevant members of staff to ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.

Effectiveness

We measure the effectiveness of our approach through:

• Regular audits of employment practices
• Staff surveys and feedback
• Supplier assessments
• Review of safeguarding reports

Further Steps

Following a review of the effectiveness of the steps we have taken to ensure that slavery and/or human trafficking is not taking place in our business or supply chains, we intend to take the following further steps:
